Save the date, Saturday March 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for Guitars & Plein Air in the Park, at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Park on Bethel and Hotel Streets. It's a FREE public collab event with DAC and Hawaii Theatre that celebrates Hawaii's musicians and artists!
Experience the traditional Hawaiian melodies of Maikapu'uwai, the classic surf rock sounds of Men in Grey Suits, the folk harmonies of John Batdorf, from the ’70s duo Batdorf and Rodney, and the timeless energy of classic rock with Later Dave.
Artists, don't miss your chance to take part in the DAC QuickDraw Plein Air Painting Competition, juried by David Luchak. There is NO entry fee, and it's open to all mediums: watercolor, pastel, oil, pencil, and acrylic. Participants must bring their own supplies and register on-site. Upon check-in, canvases will be date-stamped, and artists will receive a designated area map. All artwork must be completed on the day of the event, within Chinatown and Downtown Honolulu!

ARTIST INSTRUCTIONS
Artists participating in the DAC Quickdraw event are welcome to work in any medium, including watercolor, pastel, oil, pencil, and acrylics. Registration takes place on the day of the event, and artists must bring their own supplies. Upon check-in, each artist will have their canvas or paper date-stamped and receive a map of the designated area, which is also available on the event website. All artwork must be completed and displayed in Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Park by 2:00 PM. Participants should either provide a wired frame for their work or use a gallery-wrapped canvas. Judging will occur between 2:00 and 2:45 PM, with the final announcement made at 3:00 PM, marking the conclusion of the event. There is no cost to participate in this art competition. THREE winners will be chosen, in First, Second, and Third place.
Artist checkin: 9:30 - 10 AM at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Park
ANY artists ages 18+ are welcome to participate for free!
Artwork must be completed in Chinatown/Downtown Honolulu on the day of the event.
2 PM: Judging begins (all paintings must be completed & hung on provided grids in the park by 2 PM to be considered)
3 PM: Announcement of winners
3:45: Takedown of artwork in the park
